Just a quick addition to that:

I used
Nero to burn quite a few ISO coasters, with similar problems as you
describe.

UNTIL I turned on the DAO options.

Don't still know why it mattered, but it did, and I burned all ISOs
succesfully after that.

So, if you already have the DAO ticked, then ignore this message otherwise
it may help
