I know that it it trivial but it is driving me nuts anyway. Perhaps
someone out there can give me a clue.

My isp calls itself quality.qadas.com. If I set up my /etc/hosts as
quality.qadas.com, I can resolve it using qadas.com without adding
quality but I can't get mail. If I set it up just using qadas.com, I
can't resolve using just qadas.com but I can get my mail.

On this dual boot machine, the Windows tcp/ip set up looks something
like this:

host: quality
domaine: qadas.com
xxx.xxx.xx.x
xxx.xxx.xx.x
xxx.xxx.xx.x

my /etc/hosts looks like this:
127.0.0.1
localhost
localhost.localdomain
xxx.xxx.xx.x
qadas.com
xxx.xxx.xx.x
qadas.com
xxx.xxx.xx.x
qadas.com
With the setup above, I can't resolve qadas.com but I can get mail
When I change my /etc/hosts to:
127.0.0.1
localhost
localhost.localdomain
xxx.xxx.xx.x
quality.qadas.com
xxx.xxx.xx.x
quality.qadas.com
xxx.xxx.xx.x
quality.qadas.com
I can resolve qadas.com without the www but I can't get mail.
I am running RedHat 6.0

What must be done so that I can have my cake and eat it too?
Where would I put the host name as it is done in Windows?

Thanks,
Doug
