Have a look at /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0, and make sure there is a line in there that says: ONBOOT=yes > The other thing I would like to do is get the modem recognized which > will be the outbound side of the firewall. Check /var/log/messages*, you should see the serial ports recognized in the boot messages.
