Subject: Hard drive size reported incorrectly.Hello,
Hoping someone can help me. I've got a RH 7.1 server, using all ext2 style file systems, partitioned out as follows...
[root@server /root]# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda7 95G 69G 20G 77% /
/dev/sda3 23M 7.8M 13M 37% /boot
/dev/sda2 3.0G 861M 1.9G 30% /usr
/dev/sda5 2.0G 80M 1.7G 5% /varAs you can see, my "/" directory is filling up quickly, as it reports that 69G is currently used. However, when I run midnight commander, it reports the following regarding my directories and sizes...

│ │ │ ││ │ │ │If you add up the numbers, it doesn't add up to 69Gig. My harddrive is filling up, but I don't know what is filling all that space. There doesn't appear to be any issues with any of the directories and their sizes. What can I do to resolve this discrepency?

Title: Hard drive size reported incorrectly.
Hello
Mike,
I
have a smilar problem before and it was related to sendmail. Sendmail
was trying to send a Non Delv. Report to my e-mail address that was bigger than
my Exchange allowed. The message kept on bounce back to itself and filled up my
/ part. in about 2 days. I would suggest that you use MC and "dig" down one more
level under the directories. Although your /var part. is separate you might find
the problem this way ?
Thanks,
