This is my take...you have sgi_fam service enabled, but not portmapper
(required for RPC services to function properly). And then something
tried to connect to the port with sgi_fam running and caused the
'looping' message. This is the same message I saw when I found sgi_fam
running, and tried to telnet to that port to see if it was really
doing anything. YMMV.
