If you're using fixed IP addresses, then you have to do it manually.

If you use Win2k clients, DHCP, and a local DNS, there is a way to
configure the latest version of BIND to accept dynamic updates from Win2k
clients. That way the client would configure itself via DHCP, the register
itslef with the local DNS via Dynamic DNS (DDNS).

If you use DHCP and some other client, you need a way to have the DHCP
server send updates to the DNS server. I have found this but I have not
tried it:
