 I don't think it is a wise idea to touch the kernel parameters like this. Who 
told you to do so? Let the kernel sort out how much memory it sees. If it 
fails to detect all your memory then try the option "mem=" in your append line 
in lilo.conf (man lilo.conf).
 By the way /proc/sys/kernel/shmall does *not* seem to contain the value of 
your total memory.
 So, reboot, and let the kernel sort itself out.
