While I don't think I can really help you with this, I thought I'd add
some comment. I've a P-III 500 w/256MB RAM, 256MB swap, RH 7.2
(previously 7.1, 6.2, 6.0), either running Enlightenment or Gnome. Till
installing RH 7.2, I was using Netscape 4.75/4.76, now running Mozilla
current. I don't run into this problem at all, & I tend to listen to a
hard core radio station in New Jersey most of every day Monday through
Friday. (Of course, most of my browsing is in w3m -- a text-based
browser -- but I often used NS, & now Mozilla, while listening.

What kind of specs on your hardware, what else are you running, etc?
How long has X been running? This may simply be a memory issue....
