That's a pretty big clue.  But that does seem to be a POP server:

caspar:dtalk 502 $ telnet qadas.com 110
Trying 204.227.16.4...
Connected to qadas.com.
Escape character is '^]'.
+OK POP3 quality.qadas.com v2000.69rh server ready
quit
+OK Sayonara
Connection closed by foreign host.

Try the above command and see if you get the same results that I did.  
If not, my guess is that you've got a firewall in your way.
