Hi Admin,

On Saturday, November 10, 2001, 3:12:55 PM, you babbled something about:

A> Hi, all...

A> I'm new to this list...just joined.

Welcome.

A> My Name is Kit.
A> Just for the heck of it, I decided to try an old version of RedHat
A> I had lying around...out of the book "RedHat Linux 6 unleashed"
A> and found that I kinda like it...afterall.

A> I wish to install 7.1 on that same machine...
A> I use two, one is a PII 400mhz Compaq Dsekpro EN
A> (currently running Mandrake 8.1 on a 20 gig slave IDE drive)
A> and windows 98 2nd edition on a scsi master drive.

A> the other machine is a P 233 MMX 128 mg ram, 810 chipset MB
A> onboard soundchip 3D, etc.
A> however, when i installed RH 6.0 on this machine...it only sees
A> 64 mgs of ram...when I have 128...why is this...how do i fix.

This sometimes happens. You need to add the line...

append="mem=128M"

to your lilo.conf file and rerun lilo to activate it. Then when you reboot
you should be good to go. man lilo.conf for more info.

A> and can I run 7.1 on the PII or P233?

Don't see why not. I've run it on 486s (as server test configurations). But
the GUIs (Gnome/KDE/etc) may be a little slow. RedHat 7.1 ~ Mandrake 8.0 for
reference.

Have fun,
