Hi;
I'm gradually becoming semi-competent in running my RH62 server. I've run
into some strange problems:
**My tape drive won't record
**I can't upgrade python (I get complaints that I need certain
dependencies, which are there, and when I go to rebuild the binaries in
SPECS it won't let me)
**I can't upgrade to RH71 (it stopped at the final compilation stage)
**I can't install Postfix
I upgraded the server to RH71 by brute force: I installed all the latest
updates. I'm beginning to suspect the problem might be my hardware:
specifically my SCSI hard drive (IBM Ultrastar 18ES, 9GB, 7200 rpm). I went
to their site and d'l'd a utility to check out the drive which I will try
out, but I'd rather be at the box when I do (in case there's problems). I
would have thought, however, if it *were* this, there'd be a patch, and I
didn't find a patch. What would you more experienced gurus do in a
situation like this?
TIA,
BenO
