This is a pard one with your level of skill. The easyest thing is to
run lilo again. It doesn't hurt, and that way you make sure you have
the correct settup. If you want to check if the file you created on
your first try had the lilo code, you can look at is in an editor, or
run the strings command on it. You should see LILO in bytes 7-10.
(With a hex editor, it should start out FA EB 6C 00 00 00)

If you can set up the drive in your BIOS without using addon software
like Disk Manager, then chances the BIOS will see the hole drive. If
your BIOS offers the LBA and large options when setting up your hard
drive, then you should be ok. When it comes to weather you need the
lba32 option with lilo, and easy check if to run "fdisk -l /dev/hda" and
look at the sylinder numbers. If part/all of partition is above the
1024 cylinder number, you need the lba32 option in lilo.conf.
