Creating the symlink will not satify the requirment as far as RPM is
concerned.  RPM only know about the files listed in its database.  It
does not go looking  through the file system to see what is installed.

The origional problem was probably caused by an example file in the
origional source that had "#!/usr/local/bin/pearl" as the first line of
the file, so when the packages was built, the dependency was added.

You will have to use --force to install.
