They actually made it super easy in the new KDE.. In the look and feel
section, there's an option group called 'Style'. In Style, there is a
checkbox for anti-aliased fonts. You will probably want to download some
more truetype fonts though, because the options that I had when I turned
this on were really limited.

For font selection, I personally use verdana.. It seems to be the cleanest
looking font. It makes Konqueror look incredible..

(All of the following is taken from
http://www.xfree86.org/~keithp/render/aafont.txt)

You need some TrueType fonts

        http://keithp.com/~keithp/fonts/truetype.tar.gz

        $ cd /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts
        # tar xzf truetype.tar.gz

You need an updated config file for the Xft library

        http://keithp.com/~keithp/fonts/XftConfig

        $ (edit it to change /usr/XFree86 to /usr/X11R6)
        # cp XftConfig /usr/X11R6/lib/X11
