I am glad you have it working. You should not have had to change
anything in ifcfg-lo. It will only generate routes for the lo interface
and the 127.0.0.0 netowork. But the changed netmask should not give you
problems, as it is unusual for anything except 127.0.0.1 to be used.
(It does change the broadcast address on the lo interface...)
