Yes you can run your network with your hub and just replace the hub with a
switch later if you want. Won't interrupt anything at all except to
exchange them and turn it on. Hubs nor switches require configuration, just
the boxes do, routers on other hand is a different story which wont' get
into as your not using it.
And no, samba doesn't have to go on the "internet box" if you rather put it
on one of the networked internal ones. They can all still share the same
way with no problems. Probably even better that way if at all possible to
do.
