Greetings all, hope you can help:

Running the above system - RH Linux distro, 7.0, vanilla install.

I'm using taper 6.9

Tape devices are set to /dev/zqft0 and /dev/nzqft0. Block size set
to 32K.

I've manually added the line: options ftape ft_fdc_rate_limit=500
to modules.conf, and this still fails.

/var/log/messages tells me things like: (can't cut/paste, sorry)
Tape drive maximum DTR
317 ft QIC40 tape
59070KB usable on tape
32 bad sectors

so it must work - it seems to read OK.

Using the taper command "test fast fsf" or "test can seek" always
yields the following kinds of messages:

zftape-rw.c - Failed to verify written segment 0
zftape-write.c - Warning: update of first header segment failed

And taper reports an IO error.

Anyone seen and conquered this?

Ed
