On redhat 7 color ls is automatically activated, but the .dir_colors file
should be named .dircolors instead. As I understand it .bashrc has a global
definitions section that calls /etc/bashrc which calls scripts in
/etc/profile.d one of which is colorls.sh, look here for more information.
