I am attempting to set up a network log server for our firewalls and routers. The log server receives the packets with the -r option of the syslogd daemon but I would also like to separate the inbound packets by box and route them to different files by facility. Does anyone know how this can be done? I know that I can use e.g. swatch and other utilities to filter the /var/log/messages file on the log server but I would prefer to have the log information directly routed to a separate file for each box.
