In the XF86Config file (RH 6.2):
Section "Pointer"
    Protocol    "IMPS/2"
    Device      "/dev/mouse"
    ZAxisMapping 4 5     

And run the imwheel util. Again, I'm using the MS Intellimouse so ymmv. If
you DON'T have imwheel, go get it. You can find it at
http://freshmeat.net/redir/imwheel/4398/url_rpm/ I think the important part
is the "ZAxisMapping 4 5" to enable you to scroll.
