although i'm wandering a bit far afield here, there's an issue
with the current brouhaha regarding microsoft's www.passport.com's
"terms of use" that hasn't been addressed.

while everyone's been (justifiably) horrified at microsoft's
"all your data are belong to us" attitude, it disturbs me more
that this site actually got trust-e certified!

that microsoft has real problems with morals is no surprise anymore.
and they'll spin this just like they spin everything else when
they get caught.

but how on earth did that site get trust-e certified? from trust-e's
own web page, "when you see the trust-e seal, you can be assured that
you have full control over the uses of your personal information to
protect your privacy." what complete garbage.

what on earth was trust-e thinking? one has to wonder just how
rampantly dishonest someone has to be for trust-e to actually
*withhold* their certification.

microsoft will survive, and this will pass. but trust-e's
credibility should be forever suspect. just another worthless
certification.
