I have noticed that with a board with 66MHz disk interface that often the
special cables work a lot better than normal cables even if the drives
don't run at that speed.
Also a lot of drives and fans going at once can create low-frequency
vibrations between them. Like if you have 2 fans on your processor and
they go at slightly different speeds. It wobbles the connections
sometimes. Power connectors sometimes walk out. ( I've only seen this once
myself)
