I'm attempting to upgrade to kernel version 2.4.2 on my Redhat 6.2
box.
After resolving the problems related to getting my RAID controller
recognized, I've run into problems with PPP. When I boot into my 2.2
kernel, I can do an /sbin/ifup ppp0 with no problem. When I boot into
2.4.2, /sbin/ifup ppp0 gives me an
Unable to initialize ppp0, error 1
/sbin/ifconfig -a in my 2.4.2 kernel does not show ppp0, while 2.2
does.
I have what I believe to be all of the appropriate PPP options checked
in the make menuconfig as well as what I believe to be the appropriate
options for using serial ports.
I've found a few messages relating to the above error message on
deja.com, but they are not in any language I can read.
Anyone have any suggestions?
