That's because, the version of switchdesk knows how to manage a beta of KDE 2.
The KDE team decided to change some of the files' locations for the final
release of KDE 2. And, as they haven't Q&A the 2.x series they haven't released
a "patched" version of switchdesk.
You may try the switchdesk that comes with Wolverine (the latest Red Hat 7.1
Beta release) but it's risky.
