The advantages are purely subjective...my opinion:

The advantage is that it's a tool that I have been using for years, that
I'm more than familiar with, and that came from a trusted source.

The advantage is that I'm confortable with it, and that it doesn't require
that extra configuration.

I'm not saying that it's necessarily better than sudo/su.  I'm not
recommending it to anyone, really.  And to tell the truth, I'm not
distributing it outside of boxes that I control.

Please note, I was not noting it for the purpose of promoting my
application as a replacement for anything that would/could be used by
anyone else.  I like it, I've been using it for years, it works, and
that's that.  Remember, John...the name of the game with regard to Linux
is to be able to customize/tailor the system to your wants, needs and
desires.  This particular program fills that niche for me.
