Checking.....nope, "defaults" as usual.  I knew it wasn't this anyway since I can 
execute other programs from my /opt directory...just not the Wordperfect ones!!

I tried installing the old libc and old ld.so and it complains loudly about not being 
able to find necessary libs when attempting to launch The libs are there but the 
symlinks have to be adjusted. So it *was* a libc5 problem. But the changes from those 
old days to RH v7 are such that it is a landmine getting old apps such as this to work 
properly. I did the sane thing and mailed myself the wp document to myself at work, 
converted it to Word format, mailed it back to myself at home, and am now working 
happily away in Abiword. It is easy to see why RH left the old libc5 stuff out of the 
recent distros.....
