Hi,

I have compiled the kernel with parallel port support and parallel
port printer support. However, I can't get the printer to work.
Module lp fails to load. I have tried to add the line

alias char-major-6 lp

in /etc/modules.conf without sucess. When trying to load the
module manually I get a resource busy type of response:

$ modprobe lp
Warning: You do not need a link from /etc/conf.modules to
         /etc/modules.conf. The use of /etc/conf.modules is depreciated,
         please remove /etc/conf.modules as soon as possible. Command
           rm /etc/conf.modules
/lib/modules/2.2.18/misc/lp.o: init_module: Périphérique ou ressource occupé
/lib/modules/2.2.18/misc/lp.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.2.18/misc/lp.o failed
/lib/modules/2.2.18/misc/lp.o: insmod lp failed

By the way is there a way to disable this annoying warning about
/etc/modules.conf ?

Thanks.

Dominic.
