Apparently, your terminfo settings have been changed. That information
is usually contained in the /usr/share/terminfo directory. You can also
check 'man terminfo' for more information.
What do you get when you enter the following command?
echo $TERM
The error message you mentioned usually comes with "a second part" that
tells you which terminal type your environment variable is currently
set to. You may need to change that.
