i am trying to use vgetty as an answering machine on RH 7
i installed the rpm mgetty-voice-1.1.22-1 from redhat.
i tried to test the basic configuration at the command line
mgetty /dev/modem the modem answers incoming calls
vgetty /dev/modem does not answer incoming calls
my logs mention not to run mgetty/vgetty from the command line.
it says to use inittab. is this my problem ?
will i have to change my init state every time i make a change to the vgetty
config.
what is the best way to set this up for troubleshooting purposes.
i dont want vgetty to answer the phone until i have it set up properly
