I've been working on this for almost a week and I cannot get the screen
blanking to stop.

I have RH7 running on a Toshiba 520CDT laptop. I setup a user for myself
and use that to log in and through the GNOME configuration tool I have a
screen saver starting after 5 minutes. The screen saver starts when it's
supposed to and runs for an additional 15 minutes before the screen goes
black. Looking through older digests I've found references to setterm and
xset which I've run from a terminal window using 'su root' as suggested.
I've read through the man pages to make sure that I've done it right and
even tried some things in there that weren't in the lists. As a last
resort I went to the RH Knowledge base and found 'Canned answer #50' and
followed those instructions, again a fruitless effort. Does anyone have
any suggestions that might really work, or can tell me if I'm doing these
things with a user ID when I should be doing them as root? I'd really
appreciate any help as this is truly maddening.
