Hi there,

Long time since I posted on the list

I am having an odd problem here
I have a firewall/gateway machine that is redhat 6.2 another machine is a
redhat 7.0 mail server pop/smtp

Everytime someone from behind the firewall wants to check mail (the mail
machine also is an external ip not internal)

I get one of these in my system logs on the mail server
Mar 1 22:02:17 mail xinetd[9423]: Bad line received from identity server
at 216.XXX.XX.XXX: 61328
Mar 1 22:02:30 mail xinetd[9425]: Bad line received from identity server
at 216.XXX.XX.XXX: 61330
Mar 1 22:05:22 mail xinetd[9426]: Bad line received from identity server
at 216.XXX.XX.XXX: 61332
Mar 1 22:07:36 mail xinetd[9427]: Bad line received from identity server
at 216.XXX.XX.XXX: 61334

The ip shown here is the external firewall ip.

Now someone has told me that yes this is a problem and it lies with the
imap/pop package from redhat. but I can't find out why or how to fix
this. it is very annoying to have thousands of these in your system
logs. as you can see the end # is incremented each time... so when I
mean thousands, i mean thousands.....

Anyone with any info, I would greatly appreciate it...
