There is no easy way to do this.  Upgrading major versions has to be
done at least in the single user mode, unless you are willing to accept
a HIGH risk of crashing.  On top of that, there is the change from inetd
to xinetd, with a configuration file format change.

Better options would be:
Resetting the BIOS password.  Your motherboard documentation should
cover what jumper to do that.  Some motherboards have a jumper to
disable the password checking without changing anything in the BIOS.

If you can boot from floppy, make a boot disk, and boot from that.  The
images are on the CD.

If you can not boot off a floppy, then you can create a boot entry that
will work with LILO to boot the system.

other=/dev/fd0
      label=Floppy

If you do not have a floppy in the machine, there is a way to set up an
image on the hard drive to do the install.  If you need that, I'll see
if I can write up instructions on how to do that.
