Re this problem and the same problem I had earlier with not being able to
receive mail for user "James."

I've also been playing with Debian a little - Debian will refuse to create
a username like James or Indy unless you use the --force-badname option.
So you can still do it if you really want to, but it is a powerful hint
for newbies that is lacking in the RedHat adduser/useradd.

IMHO something to consider borrowing for RH7.1.  If a user name with a
leading upper case character causes so much trouble, requiring a switch
like --force-badname or at least having useradd display a warning such as
"Some services such as mail will not work with this username" is a good
idea.  (At least as long as RedHat wants to market to Unix/Linux
newcomers.)

Perhaps this also applies to the earlier thread about things that could be
done to reduce the number of RTFM questions.
