I also just now found that IndexOptions FancyIndexing is already on in the global
sections too.

I have another RH server with the same version of apache and dir listing works just
fine, I don't understand why all this trouble. On the non-working box I get this error:

[Fri Feb 16 15:50:03 2001] [error] [client 208.232.233.118] Directory index forbidden
by rule: /home/jw/public_html/
[Fri Feb 16 15:50:10 2001] [error] [client 208.232.233.118] Directory index forbidden
by rule: /home/jw/public_html/dl/

(What's this "rule" business - I have no rule except the one <Directory
/home/*/public_html> one)

Even though the permissions are just fine (they're the same on both servers):

Non-working server:
[root@csc004 /root]# ls -ld /home/jw/
drwx-----x 5 jw users 4096 Feb 16 14:21 /home/jw/
[root@csc004 /root]# ls -ld /home/jw/public_html/
drwxr-xr-x 5 jw users 4096 Feb 16 15:41 /home/jw/public_html/
[root@csc004 /root]# ls -ld /home/jw/public_html/dl/
drwxr-xr-x 3 jw users 4096 Feb 16 14:27 /home/jw/public_html/dl/

Working server:
[root@csc003 SrcRpms]# ls -ld /home/jw/
drwx-----x 6 jw users 4096 Feb 12 15:39 /home/jw/
[root@csc003 SrcRpms]# ls -ld /home/jw/public_html/
drwxr-xr-x 3 jw users 4096 Feb 10 20:54 /home/jw/public_html/

II think the httpd.confs are pretty much the same on both servers. Any more ideas?
