Is this the kernel source from the rpm provides with rh7?
As it is the right version I'll assume that it is.
Also the error output has smp mentionned in it.
I needed to run
make mrproper
which cleans up stuff from one of the smp kernel builds done by redhat.
This is before the make dep etc etc bit.
