It depends on your network.  Could someone be logged on to 204.112.40.3
and be trying to do an ftp connection to that machine?  I am not sure
what would happen with a masqueraded connection from within your
network...

This is someone trying to authenticate a connection.  You don't have
/usr/sbin/in.identd installed, so identd reports an error.  This is
nothing to worry about, but you may want to comment out the auth line in
/etc/inetd.conf.
