Pattern: a) Microsoft produces crippled product ( total lack of useful
utilities ).
b) Other people note lack of many useful commands/utilities/apps
and spend time and money developing them
c) Microsoft takes note of which of the above are big sellers.
d) Microsoft either buys companies with hot product(s) (this benefits
a small number of people at the aquired company) or developes
their own version which is either included with the next
version of the OS or bundled at deep discounts.
Lessons: You don't want to be in competion with your OS provider. They
hold all the cards and deal to you what they choose.
Windows developers want to be successful, but not too successful.
