Hello,
I got ipchains and forwarding working nicely together and am
currently working on a set of rules for the firewall. I am planning on
submitting a list of these rules to the lists in the hopes that some of you
will review and comment on them.
Effectively, we now have two routers (gateways???); one for our
internet connection, and one for our WAN. I would like to make the Linux
firewall the default gateway for all the windows clients and have all WAN
requests (ICMP??) redirected to the WAN router. Any pointers for that would
be greatly appreciated.
Finally, I am also considering setting up our own DNS server (lot's
of legacy equipment laying around unused). Is it OK to set it up on the
firewall, or should it be inside/outside that unit on another computer?
Other than checking for BIND vulnerabilities and upgrading to the latest
version, what precautions should I take with DNS?
Regards,
Rob
