I suspect that within 2 or 3 weeks we'll be seeing a beta release of Red
Hat 7.1. What do you think will be in it?
Will it default to the 2.4.1(?) kernel or install 2.2.18(19?) or will it
give you a choice at install time as to which to use? I'd hope that it
will install 2.4.1 (I assume it will be out by then), or at least make
it an option.
If it has 2.4.1, will it make reserFS an install time option? I would
*really* like to see that.
What about the new XFree 4.0.2 and the anti-aliased font support? It
would be nice to see that all set up and working automatically. Will
everything be set up to do 3-D acceleration on my G400 without
installing lots of other junk? I never could really get that working
under 6.2, but haven't tried extremely hard.
KDE 2.1? Would be nice. Supposedly it will be released next month.
The new standards compliant C++ library? I've been sort of waiting for
that to get back into C++ programming.
PostgreSQL 7.1 would be nice also, but it requires a dump/restore to
upgrade so they might not stick that in a 7.x release. It's also not
released yet, but I'm running Beta3 and suspect that the final will be
out soon.
I suspect 7.1 will really rock unless they let a lot of silly bugs slip
through. Now that I'm on cable modem i may actually try the beta. :-)
