This is really a question you should ask on an X list.

Anyways, why don't you try removing line 77 from the configuration file?
Clearly X is not happy about it.

Did you select the right video card for your PC? If it's a modularized
driver, is it loaded (man lsmod)?

I recently upgraded a Redhat 6.2 box with the 2.4.0 kernel to XFree86 4.0.2.
I did not install it from RPM, though -- I compiled it from scratch.
Initially, I had an error like yours (no screens) and it was because I
forgot to load my video driver first (agpgart.o for an Intel 810 chipset).
After I insmod'd my agpgart.o, X started up nicely.

Also, I used xf86config instead of Xconfigurator. You might want to rm
/etc/X11/XF86Config and run xf86config instead. You might get different (and
hopefully better) results.
