According to the kernel 2.4.0 release notes (BTW, in case you missed it,
kernel 2.4.0 is now available), you need to upgrade your version of modutils
to version 2.4.0 as well. The latest RH updates package is for 2.3.21.
Same goes for Rawhide... Similarly, you need to update ksymoops to 2.4.0
as well.
I built packages for ksymoops and modutils on my RH7 machine, running
kernel 2.4.0. They are available at:
http://www.jasons.org/kernel24/
The ksymoops package has files that seem to conflict with the
kernel-pcmcia-cs package (I believe it was just the man page for ksymoops),
but all I had to do was rpm -e kernel-pcmcia-cs, to get rid of the conflict.
Of course, if you need pcmcia support, this isn't such a good idea, and if
you're going to kernel 2.4.0 and using pcmcia stuff, I'll assume you know
what you're doing.
Luck++;
In case you were wondering, the modutils package is based on the RH
official package that was in the rh-updates area, and the ksymoops package
is the one from www.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/kernel/ksymoops/.
