I didn't really mean ipchains was really difficult or anything. What I
really meant was that Linux is more complex than the router, and requires
a human behind the wheel, and that there is much more room for human
error and oversight. More than likely there will be other services
running on Linux, and all of these are potential weakenesses and holes
in the system that need attention. I am thinking daemons like ftp,
named, etc. It is also fairly easy to have ipchains buttoned down
pretty tight, then start futzing with something and inadvertantly
louse up a perfectly good config if not careful.

I am not at all trying to discourage this. I personally think Linux is
much better way to go myself. But it does take more time and effort.
