Hi all a Merry christmas and a happy new year

I am still new to the Linux have been on linux for a little bit les than a
year. So i am quite new to this fanatastic operating system.. so guys and
ladies i am in need of your help
I am encounting two very stange problems
the first problem
I have a Pentuim iii 550 Mhz with a viewsonic 15 " monitor, harddisk 10GB,
Redhat Linux 6.2. In X windows, i used the desktop switching tool to switch
the desktop environment to fvm2..it is quite nice...but when i wanted to
switch back to Gnome it is not accepting for some reason or the other.. of
course i like very much fvm2 but as i started up with Gnome i have got a
tendency to it

Can anyone tell me why isnt it accepting to change to Gnome environment and
what should i do??

the second problem
I have got another PC (Viewsonic 17", creative Savage 3D 32 MB ,harddisk 30
GB,64MB) i have recently purchased a Redhat Linux 7.0 and i tried to intall
it ,... the installation went ok.. no problems but when i tried to execute
startx the X windows came up and it looked good but when i tried to move the
mouse all the windows overlapped each other and the mouse was giving me
something like a trail on the screen, you know when in windows you set up
the mouse to have a tail on the screen, well it is the same thing but the
tail stays on the screen and also the windows some how they have the same
effect...

I have a feeling that the new driver for X windows version 4 doesnt support
my monitor or my Creative VGA card....i have installed the RH 6.2 and it
went beautifully no problemo...

Well i hope i can find some one who could help me in these two little
porblems

hope you all have a merry christmas and a happy new year
