It is a self-extracting shell script.
Run 'sh j2sdk-1-3-0-linux-rpm.sh' and it will ask you to agree to the
license, then unpack itself into an RPM.

The SDK is the software developer's kit. It includes the runtime, the
class libraries, the compiler, and all sorts of developer goodies.
JServe (or I'm guessing you mean mod_jserv) is an Apache module for
Servlets.
Depending on what you want to do, the SDK might be more than enough, or
the SDK+jserv might not be enough.
