Greetings, everyone.

I've just set up a new RH 6.2 file server on our company network and I'm
having some trouble setting it up as an NIS client. Our master NIS
server is an older NCR box running NCR unix. I've followed the
instructions in the NIS Howto, but when I try to test with the ypcat
command, I get the following error:

[root@cpq_350 wayne]# ypcat passwd
YPBINDPROC_DOMAIN: Domain not bound
No such map passwd.byname. Reason: Can't bind to server which serves
this domain

Looking at /var/log/messages, I see:

Nov 30 14:55:04 cpq_350 ypbind[767]: Answer for domain 'foo.company.com'
from 'xxx.x.x.xx' on illegal port.

I've double-checked to make sure the nis domain is being set properly,
and am at a loss. I've also tried both the machine name and IP address
in the /etc/yp.conf file.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Wayne
