Hello all,

I just installed another Soundblaster 128 PCI on a RH7 system. sndconfig
recognizes the card as a Ensoniq|5880 AudioPCI card, but tells me the card is
not supported. Running sndconfig --noprobe I can install the card as a
Creative/Ensoniq AudioPCI 1371.
This card has VendorID 1274 and DeviceID 5880. Checking the source of the
es1371 module I can tell this card is known by the module.
My question regards the sndconfig/kudzu code. Checking the source I find the
file pcitable, which tells the 5880 is an unknown device. I guess this
"unknown" entry could be replaced with "es1371", but the header of the
sndconfig/kudzu/pcitable file warns me:

# This file is automatically generated from isys/pci. Edit
# it by hand to change a driver mapping. Other changes will
# be lost at the next merge - you have been warned.

So here finally comes my question:
Where is isys/pci? Is this just a reference to a ripped *BSD file? How is
pcitable generated from this file? Especially the comment entries. And
finally, who should I contact to get this device an entry in the code? Is this
a kernel matter, or should I contact the maintainers of the kudzu code?

                                                        Bye,

                                                        Leonard.
