Hello to all,
I'm new to linux and doing allot of reading, trying to learn as much as possible. I don't know much yet.

Question 1) I have a folder with a belt around it in my home directory. What does it mean?

Question 2) While in linux terminal, in root, I type "ifconfig" and I get "command not found" as a response. How can I access ifconfig?

Question 3) This is the big one. I am connected to a cable modem.
I used a combination of a doc I found called "Cox@home" and a book called "Master Red Hat Linux VISUALLY" to configure my connection with success. I, of course, copied all the info down just in case I needed it later.
While I was messing around with my resolution settings one day I messed my screen resolution up so bad I couldn't use my GUI, try as I might I only made things worse. So I reinstalled RH6.2.
When I tried to configure my internet connection, I apparently didn't copy all the info down and/or didn't do something that I did before, because my connection is really slow. It loads URL's in byte's rather that kilobytes. I got better performance from a 9600 bbps modem.
Here is the configuration information, hopefully somebody can spot my mistake or tell me what I did wrong.

Linuxconf doesn't offer much more info, it shows the netmask as 255.0.0.0 and Kernel mode as "tulip". I got the IP and  Gateway info from the Windows machine before I deleted windows and installed RH6.2.

Any help with these question would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance, and I apologize for taking up so much of the lists time.
