I have some win98 machines on my network that
where I am using ipchains on my linux box.
Everything appears ok but the win98 machines are
chatting quite a bit. I minimized it some by going to
dhcp but they still send out netbios request

Nov 22 15:01:03 apollo kernel: Packet log: forward DENY ppp0 PROTO=17 192.168.1.17:137
204.60.7.2:53 L=62 S=0x00 I=7680 F=0x0000 T=127 (#22)

192.168.1.17 is of the the win98 machine and 204.60.0.7.2 is one of 2 dns servers
on the internet.

I have put enable DNS on the win98 machines. (with 204.60..7.2 and 204.60.0.2 ISP
dns settings )

I think maybe I should disable DNS and set resolve via dhcp.but then the win98 machines
wont be able to resolve their http requests.

Any ideas.

before going to dhcp the win98 were doing alot of chatting. Now they
appear to do it on for the first 1 minute after coming on the wire.

Thanks in advance
