procmail

Hi, I am using RH6.2. Any e-mail that is sent to user in my server, by
default goes to /var/spool/mail/$USER. How do I change this default delivery
location to ${HOME}/mail ? I tried changing in /etc/profile to
"MAIL=/home/$USER/mail", and also tried creating a /etc/procmailrc with
"MIALDIR=${HOME}/mail. didn't work.

Any suggestions please.
