start by doing "make mrproper."  apparently, there are some leftovers
from an SMP build that were left lying around the source directory
when the CDs were burned, as i recall.

doing "make mrproper" does a thorough cleaning, and everything
should work fine.

p.s.  it's probably a good idea to take guinness-related stuff to
the guinness list, rather than the more general redhat list.
